MP3 - With CD sales in steep decline, recent trial surveys of 3 P2P networks revealed over 250,000 Jamiroquai downloads in just 4 days. Pre-release monitoring and anti-piracy measures can significantly stifle the spread of illegal MP3 files.   Movies - As with singles and album releases, pirate copies of blockbuster movies spread exponentially on the net unless a co-ordinated campaign of anti-piracy measures is implemented. Web Sheriff has the capability and experience to drastically reduce pre-release piracy of all kinds, thereby maximising profits.

Privacy - New human rights laws now enable artists / celebrities to protect against the invasion of their privacy, especially from telephoto shots into private property. This type of content can now be removed from sites and / or the sites can be taken-down.   Libel - As was recently seen in the case of David Beckham, the Internet is often the starting point for rumours and libels, which - if left unchecked - quickly cross over to the mainstream media (whether true or not). Regular monitoring of the Net and specific sites can prevent these incidents.

Copyright - A free-download photograph of Moby : thousands are available of most artists free-of-charge on the Internet, for use as greetings cards, 'wallpaper' and 'skins'. By implementing a combined Internet policing and licensing policy, artists and celebrities can develop a royalty stream from other on-line rights.   Domains - Domain name squatting and abuse is still rife, with certain artists / celebrities not even owning their own domain names : incredibly, the ElvisPresley.com domain is owned by an unofficial site and not by Elvis' estate. Action can be taken to successfully ensure the return of 'stolen' domains.

Security - Fans post many photographs on the Web (as above) although, disturbingly, one site has a 'Stalking Moby' section. Again, these types of sites can be taken-down and / or the offending content can be removed.  ISP Apathy - Although all Internet Service Providers have Acceptable Use Policies, many do not enforce them. In a recent assignment for a national UK newspaper Web Sheriff closed down 4 terrorist websites showing execution footage of US and UK citizens (including Ken Bigley - RIP). Those sites were enabled by American ISPs who failed to enforce their own use policies.

eBay - Liaising with eBay can result in the mass termination of illegal auctions and the identification of illegal vendors. This is particularly useful in stopping the illegal sale of bootlegs and promo / preview copies of CDs and DVDs prior to record and film releases.   PayPal - Liaising with PayPal can result in the withdrawal of on-line payment facilities from illegal web-sites. This is particularly useful in neutralising criminal activity on web-sites.

Subversion - Subversion abounds on the net and, whilst the above photo / caption aimed at Craig David is probably meant to be humorous, the net is nonetheless the source of numerous hate and obsessive notices. Targeted monitoring of offending / notorious sites is essential.   Pornography - Although the above site is clearly a fake celebrity site, many sites create pornographic images of female stars by superimposing their heads on to hard-core images. Again, regular monitoring can trace and remove such sites.
